Complete in October and interview?

Anyone with files completed in October (like me) and received interviews (unlike me) from the following schools?

GW
NYMC
Tufts
Tulane
Cornell
NYU

I still haven't gotten in anywhere and I'm getting really nervous now. I need some interviews!! Maybe I'm just impatient?

out of all the schools the only ones i heard from was NYMC...the rest are sitting on my application...i contacted them all and they are "still under review" GWU has my app on hold...which to my knowledge means that i'll get rejected...

Hey johnstoner, thanks for your reply. When exactly were those NYMC, GW and Tulane apps complete? My apps were complete 10/17 (NYMC), 10/15 (GW), and no word on completion (Tulane). Also, if you don't mind my asking what are your stats. I'm 33 MCAT(took the friggin thing 3 times though) and 3.6 GPA so I was hoping for a little love from these schools. well, the waiting game continues. If I don't get into med school at least I'll come out of this process a VERY patient man.

Hey UCLAman, thanks for asking. I also applied to the following schools: Penn State (on hold for interview, so pretty much the nice rejection), UVA (interviewed and placed on WL), EVMS (interviewed and placed on WL), Rochester (interview Jan 3), and Boston University (interview Jan 10).

Being waitlisted at EVMS was a reality check because, while it's an awesome school and I liked it a lot (I would definitely go there if I could get in), it was kind of my safety school, in that my stats were somewhat above their averages. Also, I thought my interview there went REALLY well. I talked with two Navy doctors and had lots to say coming from a Navy family myself.

So I'm wondering if people are still getting interviews to the other schools I applied to because I want as many interviews as I can get seeing how this selection process is both difficult and unpredictable. My whole confidence in the system was shot when EVMS put me on the WL. I went to bed the other night picturing myself on Virginia Beach reading Gray's Anatomy...tonight I'm picturing myself at a public library. Thanks again everyone!!

I heard from Einstein a few weeks ago and my file was complete some time in Oct. They get a lot of applications and things are filling up fast. My interview is on Feb. 3. Hope this sheds some light on the subject. They send out acceptances in Jan and then again in April so you still have time before the second set of acceptances goes out. Good Luck.

So I talked to EVMS today and they said I'm at the "very" top of their wait list!! There is hope! Thanks for the responses. I barely slept last night with all this on my mind.

Going to sleep until next fall...

When I applied last year, I got an interview invite via email on 2/1; interviewed in March. Last year I think completed the app a little later than you did... Hope I get another interview there this year! 😀

no, haven't heard from GW, tufts, tulane, or cornell.......i ws complete around 10/28-11/1......maybe since i was late, that's why.......

Got a thanks but no thanks from tulane. Completed at most of those schools real early and haven't heard anything. For exam, NYMC completed on 8/15 - you think they could have figured it out by now 😉
Oh well I guess we just have to keep waiting and waiting and

I'm an August MCATer with apps complete in October.

In regard to EVMS ....

Like goredsox I felt I had an AWESOME interview. I was also interviewed by two older physicians (I'm not sure if they were Navy doctors.) If I had to rate this interview, I would rate it a '10'. I was extremely impressed with EVMS an would definitely go there if accepted. My interview was a couple of weeks ago, and I found out yesterday I was waitlisted. I am out-of-state and I'm sure they give priority to in-state applicants first. I called today and asked my position on the waitlist and I was told (like goredsox) that I was at the VERY top of the list. I hope this is true, however my question is this, "Is there anyone out there who called and was given a different answer?" I'm not trying to be paranoid, but I don't want to get my hopes up if this is what they tell everyone who calls. My impression of EVMS is that this would not be the case, but like I said, I don't want to get my hopes up. I've had 4 interviews so far (no acceptances) and have 4 more in the coming weeks.

when I called EVMS the lady I talked with sounded really down when I asked her about my position on the wait list. i thought she was going to tell me I was towards the bottom based on her initial response. however when she checked my file there was an immediate change in her voice and she became happy for me. she then mentioned that she usually has to break bad news to people, but she was happy to give good news for a change. unless she is a REALLY good actress i'd think that not everyone is told he/she is at the top of the wait list. just a thought...g luck!

Thank you goredsox!! I appreciate it. That's makes me feel MUCH better. I was also at BU on 1/10. I was very impressed with the school and felt my interview went really well. It is just a very expensive school in a very expensive town.

My application was complete in mid October and 5/7 Ohio schools are still giving me the cold shoulder. The other two were kind enough to reject me fairly soon.

I have a feeling that my MCAT score is also one fator for delay in getting the interview offers. I also finished applications mid october. No interviews from almost the same set of schools. One reject from Brown. Does ne one else thinks that having sub 29 MCAT + mid october= delay!

if you look at the august mcat list your interviews thread, you can get a good idea of which schools are offering interviews. august mcaters had apps complete sometime in october if they filled out their secondaries before getting their scores. at this point, most schools are offering interviews, but i'd imagine it's still possible to get interviews at a lot of schools if your app has yet to be reviewed or has been put on hold.

nymc has given interviews to late applicants. i interviewed there 12/2. they are still giving interview invites according to someone on this site who recently got one. they are slow as hell in giving out admissions decisions, so they may be slow in giving out interviews as well. i dunno.

tufts is very slow. i think they may have started mailing invites to late app people this week. they interview pretty late into the season, so there is still hope.

tulane has interviewed people with late apps. they have also sent rejections. you may be able to call them and find out what's up. i did, and they told me i'm on hold for interview.

don't know about the other schools as i didn't apply!

as for having a sub 29mcat + mid october... yeah, i think it's a real disadvantage. i have 4 interviews so far, though, so don't give up hope!

I took the MCATs in August and applied to NYU. My application was complete in late October and I've since interviewed (r11?05, i12/14) and am waiting to hear back. I havent heard from GWU or NYMC though... I just wanted to relay some info on NYU.

i was complete at NYU around mid-October, and have since gotten an interview (1/31). I've been complete at Tufts and Cornell, but haven't heard anything since. I even called Cornell and told them I was going to be interviewing at NYU and Columbia at the end of January, and they said "we will make a note of it", but I haven't heard anything since. I'm sure the rejection is on the way.
