Complete List of Genitourinary (GU) Pathology Fellowship Programs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Would you rather do a GU fellowship and see nothing but GU materials, or would you rather do a surg path fellowship and do your electives in GU? Anyone do both?

Had I been in the position (which I wasn't) to be interested in doing a non-accredited fellowship in something, I would have wanted to be able to call it a GU/breast/whatever specific fellowship. I would NOT have wanted to say, yeah, I did a surg path fellowship but I did a bunch of GU. I just think it would have been a harder sell to a serious practice that wanted to incorporate a "GU" pathologist. So, I would have wanted to do at least "primarily" GU, and the fellowship to be advertised as a GU fellowship, for when my new potential employer goes looking.

Nothing wrong with doing it the other way, so long as you're forthcoming about the difference. And to be perfectly honest it's probably a good idea to do a lot of general during the year. Just not how I think I would have wanted to go about it...if I wanted to consider myself a GU pathologist at the end.
