Completely scratch personal essay?

I am getting ready to reapply for the second time and I keep reading last year's personal essay because I am so attached to it!! Do I need to scratch this essay completely? Or can I recycle some of it? What else should be included besides "this is why I am reapplying again"

The way I see it, schools where you are a reapplicant will probably compare your applications. If they see that your personal statement is the exact same, or pretty damn similar, then they likely won't expect much has changed. Even if it has.

I want to convey to these schools that my second application represents a changed person, someone who has reflected on their his and tried to overcome them.

At the same time, I've read a bunch of anecdotes here about people who have submitted the exact same personal statement and done extremely well. So, it might not matter much at all!
