Completing LOR Section and Designating LORs to Schools

Hi All,

I'm probably going to get grilled for asking this, but I am pressing the "submit" button tomorrow and I want to make absolutely sure that I understand this process.

I have filled out the LOR section of the Primary app. I understand that once I press submit, I cannot change any of these and I can only add. I'm fine with this. I have also filled out all the schools that I wish to apply. Sweet.

Now, question: do I have to designate the letters that I want each medical school to receive right now, before submitting the primary? Or, if I assign this info later (at the secondary stage), I can re-submit my application with no delays or fees and everyone will be happy?

Adding LOR information later is not going to affect verification and/or the cost of AMCAS now. Designating that information at a later time should be fine, however, in reference to your comment:

"no delays or fees and everyone will be happy?" ---->

Just remember, the longer you take to designate and send letters to AMCAS, the longer it may take for them to process. What's going to make you happy? [Rhetorical Question] It's all relative; you just have to have your own personal time frame in mind. What's considered an early submission for one person may be considered late for another....

You can assign any time after you submit. There will be no delays.

Yes re-certifying takes maximum 2 minutes so no worries 🙂

i just called amcas and they said you can assign after you submit, but once you assign it you cant change!!

so is everyone assigning LOR's after submitting?

yep assign after submitting. did that last year without any problems. amcas is pretty quick on the turn around.
