Hi everybody. If you don't mind I would like your advice on something; I have been too afraid to ask but now I'm just going to do it..i posted in the 'About.com' forums before but more people read this one, I think.
I was accepted to Penn and still have to take Physics II this summer (they know this, although they never said anything to me about it at the interview or afterward). The college I was going to take it at canceled the class so I scheduled it last-minute at another college, farther away. I am very nervous because I don't know how it's going to be and Physics is a really hard subject for me (for others too, I am sure, but I am really stupid when it comes to this stuff.) Of course I am going to study like crazy and do my best- worked for Physics I, although I didn't score well on the exams- but the possibility is there that I won't do well in it. Do you think my acceptance will be revoked? Or will they defer me until I can pass it (which may -never-happen!) I really should call the Ad. Comms. about this but I am too nervous about what they would say.
Thanks a lot 😳

I have heard several cases where admission was revoked b/c the individual did not pass a pre-req or failed another course after admission. I know that's not what you wanted to hear...

I feared I was in the position of not passing a course I need to graduate, but didn't need for vet school. The particular class was a nightmare and no one could do anything about it b/c the head of the deptment taught it and shall we say felt he was beyond criticism. I ended up doing fine, but after my first exam, which was a disaster I made it very clear to him what was on the line for me....you might want to do the same with this physics proff. Then make sure that you do everything you can to do well (review sessions, meeting with the proff., hire a tutor, etc) A lot of proffs will do whatever they can to get you the grade you need if you're in this spot and are doing everything you can to do well.

With physics...I didn't think it was that hard, but I did work a lot of problems and I think that's sort of the trick to doing well. They can only ask a lot of those questions so many ways so if you do a lot of problems you'll generally wind up with some on the exam being very simmilar.

Good luck.

I second that. I did much better the second semester than the first because I worked TONS upon TONS of problems. I made sure I understood all the problems the professor assigned; if I didn't, I'd get him to explain it to me or do some extra research to figure it out. If your textbook has an online website with more practice problems (mine did), do them!! My professor took test questions straight from the website. If your textbook has a solutions manual, get it and work as many of the extra problems you can (this will also help with self-teaching if you get in a jam). With some dedication and hard work, I'm sure you'll do fine!

Thanks guys for your answers! I am going to do the best I can 😳
