Hi,
So I have an upcoming presentation for my Business and Professional Communications class, and we are supposed to present a training session for something we may have to do in our future career. I am going to do a presentation on the proper way to consult a patient about treatment and was hoping to give a "bad" example of a consultation using a fancy dental jargon-filled diagnosis that no one would understand (to add humor). Problem is, I don't currently know any fancy dental jargon, so I was wondering if any of you who have shadowed dentists may know of any phrases or a complex diagnosis I could use
Any ideas are much appreciated

Sure, tell they patient they have caries on #19 and you need to do an MO prep (mesio occlusal) and place a composite filling. That is a very good way for a patient not to know what you mean.

If you wanted to explain a crown prep it can be as follows:

First you'll prepare the tooth for a PFG (porcelain fused to gold crown), then you'll pack a hemodent-impregnated retraction cord in the sulcus of the tooth, then you'll take a polyvinyl impression with a triple tray. This will be followed by the cementation of a Luxatemp temporary crown with a ZOE (zinc oxide eugenol) cement.

Or you could always talk about a patient having an apical radiolucency that needs to be treated with an initial apexification followed by the filling of the individual canals with gutta percha This would then be followed by some sort of buildup and then a crown prep afterwards.
