I remember being told in lectures a few months back that it's best to avoid placing an occlusal composite restoration on a tooth that occludes with a metal (or was it ceramic?) crown/onlay. I may have that completely wrong, so I was hoping some of the more seasoned folks on here could help me out.

The reason I ask is that I had a faculty member tell me he'd never heard of that, and said placing a large composite restoration on #20 DO was perfectly fine, even though there was a metal onlay on #13. That didn't seem right to me, but I've been wrong before 😎

i've never heard of anything like that. the only thing that i've heard of is when two metal fillings/crowns are occluding because of galvanic shock (saliva being conducter); however in my limited experience i've never seen anything like that
