computer calculator?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nope. The workstation you'll be using will display the software that supports the CBT and nothing else. You couldn't minimize the test or access any system tools if you tried.

I thought for sure we could use it. On practice tests, aamc, there are a couple of problems where you need a calculator. I guess none of those types of questions are on the PS of the MCAT

Under no circumstances will you need - or be permitted - to use a calculator on any AAMC exam. What's masquerading as a super-tricky calculation on your practice exam could probably be solved with a little rounding/estimation, or by memorizing some basic values (square root of 3, log(1), etc.).

Yeah, sadly we can't use calculators 🙁. But you have to remember that the MCAT is not testing you on your mathematical skills.

Even though some problems may seem like you need a calculator, you really don't -- they expect you to use estimations and understand proportions.

I suggest to brush up on exponents, logarithms, decimals (and even basic arithmetic). Also, the Kaplan books do a decent job in teaching quick techniques to solve the latter problems. 😉

Ha, I was thinking of the DAT, which I was studying for back in January when I wanted to go to Dental school.

TBR Gchem does an awesome job of helping with all the log calculations for pH and buffers/titration.
