I have only been practicing optometry for a few years but have seen many advancements in diagnostic as well as thearapeutic equipment. Years ago all that was needed is a humphrey vf and the "normal" exam lane. When I began opt school there was the ocular blood flow analyzer and the heidelberg instuments were the new thing.
Now there is the oct with live video feed and ability to look 3-d images from all angles as well as gdx and the like.
Do others feel that there is a need for advanced automation and computerized equipment for proper patient care. If so how much and what is enough for good patient care(not just from a billing standpoint)?
