Hello everyone,

I am a sophomore, taking biology I now. I am feeling like Biology has tons of information. I am doing okay in class while my friends get troubles and drop the class... I am not feeling cocky.
Is anyone here a dental student (accepted)? Please give me some advices.
I am feeling like I do not understand complete, 100% of biological materials. Will I be okay for DAT?
Anyone here got high scores on Biology of DAT. Do you all understand completely of biology materials when you are taking BIOL 1 and BIOL 2?
Thanks!

You're obviously going to have to study for it when you prepare for the DAT. That being said, you can still miss around 1/4 of the Bio questions and still get around 19-20-21 on that section. Wait until you do some practice tests/questions to see your actual level of understanding.

Based on my experience, truly understanding biology didn't really start coming together for me until junior/senior year. The first two years provided a good foundation but it wasn't until I started taking upper level bio courses that I was able to really put everything together and get my "biology common sense". Also, a lot of college courses zone on specific details and you can often times get lost in the sauce. I would definitely recommend watching Khan Academy videos to obtain a brief overview of the subjects covered in class and then dive into the details provided in class. Textbooks often times provide A LOT of information and sometimes slides provided in class do not provide enough. I remember I use to record my professor's lectures, listen to them at home and take notes on the posted slides, and then make a study guide from them followed by memorization.

As far as the DAT, you honestly will not know until you begin your DAT prep. Understanding and memorizing the material from AP Cliff Notes or Ferralis followed by practice tests from QVault and Bootcamp will point you in the right direction.

Get some other books besides your textbook. Cliffs, Destroyer, Feralis and Schaums outlines are good. The explain some difficult concepts well. On one side, you do not need to know everything, but it is tough to say what exactly you will face on the DAT.
