Hi,
I'm a 17 year old junior in a program where I do 2 years of college as my last two years of high school. So basically I am getting some pre-reqs done such as English, History, Art, Math etc..

My questions are next semester I was given the choice of taking any science class so should I go and get my first year of biology or chemistry done or wait until I go to an actual university to do my Biology/Chemistry classes. (Note: I'm taking my college classes at a community college.)

Also I would like to ask how long do you think I would be in University before I should start applying to Medical schools given my circumstances of having already finished many pre reqs.

Thank you for your time!

Apply to med school the summer after your third year of college. For you I guess that would be the summer after your first year in real college; not high school college.

If you do 2 years in high school, well you would need another 2 to finish college... so that. If you are going to major in science, you can take some (or all) the pre-reqs at your CC since you will be taking upper division science courses once you transfer out to a Uni. If you're not going to major in science, I would suggest you wait until you get into your Uni to take them.

I'm in a similar program, and am actually taking another 4 years at a uni due to a change in major, so don't feel pressured to finish in 4 years if you need to take more time. Regardless, I would try to take at least som pre-reqs at the uni, but not necessarily all of them.

I did a similar program. I've ended up doing four years at my university because I got a scholarship that allowed me to (could have finished in two with my associates being done). Personally, I waited to take a number of courses until I got to my university or ended up retaking ones I had because A) my CC colleges were so easy I didn't have to work in them and B) at 16 I wasn't motivated/aware enough to teach myself the principles in the sort of depth I needed for university level work or the MCAT. That said, what you do is going to depend on how comparable the difficulty of your CC classes is to the university you intend to go to and how much you're willing to work on concepts outside of lecture/will be able to retain.

So you're enrolled concurrently receiving a high school diploma and associates I'm assuming in which the college classes on your college transcript also apply towards high school graduation.

After your two years transfer as a junior, during the spring of your junior year you should study for the MCAT and take it at the end of the semester if ready. Only if all pre-reqs are finished. If you can take your pre-reqs while dual-enrolled then do it.

I did what you did after my soph year in high school, but finished my associates in a year taking the majority of my pre-reqs, transferred and took upper-level science courses while also finishing off some pre-reqs that fall semester before spring

I would attempt to fulfill your pre-reqs off the board math english etc. Try to take some science like chemistry or physics. After going through my college years I feel like physics needs it own semester without other sciences. I personally love chemistry, orgo, and bio so they require less time for me.
