I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I have a question about something I witnessed yesterday. Me and a few friends started a pickup football game at a local park. Our friend (a big guy) was going back for the game winning pass and threw it off balance to the end zone. After he threw the ball, he started to trip over his own feet and slammed his head on the ground. He is a jokester, so when we walked over, he was telling a few jokes and laughing about falling backwards. Nothing was concerning until the three minute mark. He kept asking what happened and failed to recall how he got on the field. Everyone looked to me for advice, but I told them "I am a pre-med, I don't freakin know." So I asked a few simple questions that anyone could answer, but his memory would last for 20-30 seconds. Finally, we got him to the hospital and they cleared him.
Is this normal for a concussion? I had a few concussions playing sports in high school, but I could always remember what happened before the play. Brain injuries have always intrigued me because my mom has epileptic seizures, so I was hoping for a reasoning behind what happened to my friend. If anyone is concerned, we won (our friend went Odell Beckham Jr. in the end zone).
