Is anyone out there familiar with the process of getting a conditional release from the Army to attend Dental School under the Health Profession Scholarship Program?

I will be applying for the HPSP in the future but I don't know the process of getting a conditional release. Do I need a conditional release from my branch? Do I need a conditional release from my commander?

Any guidance on the process will be greatly appreciated. 😕

The release paperwork is part of your HPSP packet. Your command has to sign-off on the application before the selection board will even consider you for the scholarship. You will likely need a letter from your commander endorsing your application. To my knowledge, your branch is not involved.

Different paperwork is required, depending if you are in the Active Component, Army Reserve, or Nat. Guard.

Your recruiter should have all this information for you. Get it all going soon after you complete AADSAS so that you can be considered for the first board in DEC.

I've already received acceptance into Dental School. My only problem is receiving the conditional release. I was contacted by the Dental Branch and they said I only need a release from my unit. I hope this is true because my branch is not very helpful. I will contact a health recruiter to get a definite answer. Thanks for responding.
