Curious to see what the practice is of folks when patients pass away. Do you typically write condolence letters, or hallmark cards, or just a phone call? I think attending funerals (pre COVID) is a bit much and hard to sustain emotionally. One doctor I worked with had the families send back a photograph of the patient when they were well and he had a whole wall of photographs to memorialize patients he took care of, I thought that was rather nice.

I send a card; I usually write a fair amount and then pass it around so the office staff and nurses who knew the patient can also share their thoughts.
