Can anyone give provide the structure for aconfirmation seminar presentation? What to include not include etc.
Thanks in advance
I think maybe you're not getting replies because people aren't sure what exactly you're asking for. Is this a thesis/dissertation proposal presentation?
It would probably be useful for you to go to a couple, if possible, before doing your own. Go to one held by a classmate or upper year student, if at all possible. Then talk with other people there (professors, if possible) about what the student did well and what they might have done differently.
If this isn't possible, you should talk with your advisor about what's expected--the format of these can vary slightly from department to department.
In general, you want to set it up a little like the Introduction, Methods, and the beginning of the Results section of a paper. Talk about past research in your field, first. Then talk about what's missing in the past research, and how your thesis or dissertation will fill in those holes or add to the literature. Then go through the proposed methodology in some detail-- enough detail that people can make suggestions for changes, for example.
Finally, go through the planned analysis, the expected results, and how these results would impact the literature/inform people's clinical practice, etc.
Good luck, and I hope this helps!
