Hey everyone. I'm pretty conflicted on whether or not i should apply this year or if i should bolster my resume and just life experience by taking a year off. Im also planning on doing and MD/MBA so thats another year on top of many more.

Texas Resident(UT student)
Major: Finance
Minor: Bio

CGPA: 3.82
SGPA: 3.76
MCAT: 38(14 PS, 12 BS, 12V)

Here is a rough version of my EC's

-Regular hospital volunteering for about a year or so.
-Shadowed both a cardiologist and radiation oncologist(30 or so hours)
-Tutor for Underprivileged Children in the summer(twice a week for 2 hours)
-9 months working in a Research lab( about 10 hrs per week)
-Fundraising Coordinator for ISA- 1 yr
-Member Coordinator and Recruitment Captain for Service Fraternity- 3 years
Plenty of volunteer work done through the fraternity as well.
-Trying to get a job as an mcat tutor or will work as program coordinator for Boys and Girls Club

-With the year off, I would probably work either a health care internship or find a research position.

Essays and Recs should be good-great.

What do you think about my chances at schools like:
Northwestern, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, UCHI, UMICH, UT Southwestern, Baylor

I'm only wondering how much of an effect that year would have on top tier schools. Do you guys think it will make a significant difference?

If you spend the year engaging in activities that make your application stronger, an extra year can make a positive difference. For example, research-oriented, highly-selective med schools will probably find more appeal in substantive research of longer duration where you had a creative role. Whatever job you get, you should beef up your volunteer clinical experience and shadowing hours.

I have similar stats and ECs to you and I decided to take a year off to bolster certain parts of my app. So I guess I'd say take a year if you want to.

You will get where you want. Since it is Finance you should go for M.D/MBA and be a CEO of Pharmaceutical or vaccine company.
