Confused about application and start dates

I'm dealing with a lot right now, and I feel like my head is going to explode.

Here is my problem.

In order to start THIS Fall (Fall 2012) when is the last day to apply?

From what I've been told, I was supposed to apply last September/October.

So, if I graduate this summer. When is the earliest I can go to med school?

At this point, it's looking like I'm going to have 1 year to make use out of.

It might be possible to apply to a Caribbean med school now and start med school in fall 2012, but that would not be your best option. Presuming a competitive application, it's far better to apply June 2012 to matriculate at a med school summer or fall of 2013. Yes, one can apply in the early fall, but that puts your application at a disadvantage as many interview spots would have already been given out, leaving fewer for you.

If you plan to apply early this coming summer, that gives you plenty of time to gather your LORs, beef up your ECs, study more for the MCAT, thoughtfully write your Personal Statement, and basically keep your head from exploding due to a decompressed timeframe compared to what you expected.

Cat is a madam and June 1st would be your best bet to apply. However, you have to take some major steps prior to June and you should read my mdapplicants profile since it thoroughly explains the dates and entire process.

As that could be open to misinterpretation, let's say "a ma'am", instead. 🙂

If you would graduate at the end of the summer, it is not necessary to wait until you finish those classes before you apply. You can list them as future coursework on the application so schools know they're in progress.
