I thought you do not send in letters of recommendation until you get secondaries, but in the AMCAS application it gives an option for letters of recommendation. It says that once your application is submitted you cannot alter that section. So I am perceiving that all LOR's have to be ready before you primary application is submitted.

If this is the case, I am in a bind. Because I am hoping to submit my application for verification by the end of this week. I have most of LOR's ready, but one of writers I have not asked yet. So I could probably not have the letter ready sometime during the verification, but not ready to submit now.

Can anyone enlightment me on this?

You don't need to have your LORs in for the primary. You only need them for the secondary.

I believe what AMCAS is saying is that after you enter the info on the LOR page and submit it (you need to click submit again, but dont worry, you app doesn't need to be verified again) you can't alter it. So think about what letter goes to which school before you click the submit on the LORs.

You can make entries for the letters that will be coming (to get the letter #) and then submit.

After 15 calls to AMCAS, this is my understanding.

1. You don't need to assign letters to schools before submitting primary.
2. You can add more letters after submission and assign the letters.
3. You cannot delete letter entries after submission.
4. You cannot reassign letters after submission.

My solution is to create entries for ALL letters like Polycarp suggested and have some ready but I did not assign any letters to any schools. I plan to assign letters as secondaries come around.

I'm not a 100% sure you can do it this way though. Anybody care to comment?

It should be no problem waiting until secondaries come around to assign your letters to each school
