If something like this has been posted before i am sorry. I have read alot of posts and see things like "getting a 30% match, or 90% match" what does this all mean? Am I to believe that you cannot go into whatever medical specialty you want, rather a computer matches you to a field? If this is the case I cannot see how that is fair? I am probably wrong, so could some of you please explain the whole matching thing to me?

You would be well-served to find a general residency match reference to explain the match. There are many, both online and in print.

Briefly, the match places applicants at the top program they rank that also ranks the applicant high enough. It's not really in keeping with a free market economy, but it tends to put the greatest percentage of applicants at their top choice(s).
