Confused about new Osteopathic Internship issues

I plan on applying to allopathic Neurology programs only. According to ABPN, you need a transitional year or a Prelim IM year for your internship. Before I thought I'd fulfill all this with just doing a dual AOA/ACGME internship (applying as a transitional applicant).

NOW that they have restructured the whole internship thing...I'm confused about what to apply for. If you go by option 2 (special emphasis), there are only 7 internships for Neurology emphasis and only one is dual accredited I think. Option 3 says traditional internship and to choose if applying to ACGME residencies...but a traditional internship will not fulfill the ABPN requirements. So what do I do?

Yeah, I've been trying to figure that one out myself. I ended up applying to about a dozen allopathic programs for a prelim year, and a few AOA/AMA programs. If/when I get the interview from the AOA/AMA programs, I'll let them know what my plans are and hopefully they'll be able to clarify things up for me. Good luck to you!

Yeah...that's exactly what I'm planning on doing and then if needed...use Resolution 42, which I'm sure would get approved.

Just wondering what everyone else is doing?

i matched at an allo neuro program and currently doing an allo prelim year. my plan is to use res 42 to get the allo prelim approved as an osteo internship and i believe that should go smoothly since there are very few osteo neuro programs and very few prelim medicine programs that are dually acredited, in addition the only way to obtain an osteo internship is to participate in the AOA match which is a bad idea if you are going for neuro since if you match with AOA you will lose all of the PGY1 spots from Neurology and therefore reduce the number of potential spots you can compete for through the NRMP match for Neuro.
