Unfortunately AADSAS is pretty strict with their GPA calculations. If it has a prefix of PSY and is offered in the psychology dept then you honestly don't have a leg to stand on. It needs to be counted as non-science. If you mark it as science anyway, you run the risk of holding up your application and having AADSAS ask for clarification, etc.
This is wrong. I don't know when you applied for dental school, but have you looked at a more recent AADSAS course subjects list?
It has
several classes that are generally offered in the psych department (or at least they were at my undergrad and my post-bacc uni) that are classified as Biology with the "(Any Dept.)" indicator next to them. In those
specific cases, I think they are looking at course
titles more than the department.
Examples of Biology from the 2015 course list:
Biopsychology (Any Dept.)
Brain and Behavior (Any Dept.)
Cognitive Psychology (Any Dept.)
Neuropsychology (Any Dept.)
Psychopharmacology (Any Dept.)
@gstead245 I would say if your course
titles are
those exact ones I have listed, mark them as Biology. Otherwise mark them based on the department heading which would be Non Science since they fall under Psych. AADSAS is not going to be looking at your old syllabi to see what Psych Dept classes have enough biology within them to be classified that way, but over the years it seems that they have evaluated that these specific classes should count. Additionally, since Neuroscience as a department is listed under Biology, you could try classifying classes that say Neuroscience specifically as Biology. If the people reviewing your courses believe that you've made a mistake, they will correct it when they check over your coursework section.
