Hello,

With the caveat that I'm not familiar with the dental programs specifically, here's some info to consider. As an international student, pay particular attention to how helpful the international students offices are, and to how you will fund your studies.

1- Dental public Health in Boston University
- larger public health school
- program focused on dental PH
- good public transit in Boston
- relatively high cost of living
- urban campus
- private school

2- Loma Linda University school of public health Medical epidemiology
- school has Seventh Day Adventist religious orientation
- private school
- Southern California (inland, not near the beach!)
- moderate cost of living
- smaller school
- less well-known

3- Dental Epidemiology department in the public health school of University of Michigan
- public school (but as expensive as some private schools)
- Ann Arbor, Michigan, not too far from Detroit, but with less access to large cities than the other two schools
- moderate cost of living
- well-respected school
- suburban-type campus
- larger public health school

If you want to pursue a doctorate in epidemiology, Michigan may be your best option. However, keep in mind that students from all three of these schools do continue on for further degrees, and you will not necessarily restrict your opportunities by choosing one over the other. Also, remember that attending one of the schools for an MPH does not guarantee that you will be able to get a PhD there. Choose a place you think you'll like living for the next year or two (or more), a place with faculty whose work interests you, and do good work there! Good luck.
