I am applying to Texas schools and the TMDSAS (equivalent to AMCAS) has an essay prompt that appears very similar to the secondary essay prompt from one of the texas medical schools. I am not sure how to make the secondary sound different. On the other hand, I dont want it to appear like I am saying the same thing to the adcoms in two separate essays. Does someone have any ideas on how I can look approach these essays differently ?

Mcgovern -->How have your experiences prepared you to be a physician?

TMDSAS --> Explain your motivation to seek a career in medicine. Be sure to include the value of your experiences that
prepare you to be a physician.

You can highlight different examples/experiences for each one. The school-specific answer can/should also be more tailored to their specific mission. You can also use the Mcgovern secondary to go into more detail on whatever you write for the TMDSAS essay prompt.

+1. I would try to find a different anecdote from your personal experiences that fits the prompt AND the school's mission. That would be ideal.

They are asking for two different things. The latter part of TMMDAS is a question with two parts.

Try talking your answers out into your voice recorder on your phone, and then transcribe and edit it.

The TMDSAS prompt is your main 'Why medicine?' statement prompt. Answer it first as it will have the far greater impact on your ultimate success.

Then for McGovern, do a spin-off. I view it more as a "What have you done to prepare? / Describe some of your experiences?" rather than a 'Why medicine?'
