Can anyone tell me if review books are needed for step 2 Ck or if UW notes and qbank is enough to get 250+?
I didn't get a good score in step 1- (in 220s) as I had a lot of breaks and other issues. But I really want to do well on step 2.
I plan on doing onlinemeded. But is it really needed? Can we straight away start with uworld?

There is a UW notes that everyone is using. So my question is should I read through the notes and then do the qbank or do the qbank and then read thrkuth the notes?

Pls anyone guide me. Really wanna do well on step 2.

Thanks!

start uworld and make good notes/flashcards. and if u feel the need to improve on a topic, u can consult kaplan or uptodate. keep reviewing the algorithms and notes. And do CMS for subjects u're weak in. And if u still feel unprepared, do another q bank.

Agree more or less with the approach suggested by northerncardinal. You are, in my humble opinion, much better off knowing as many concepts/details in UW explanations as possible instead of spending time passively reading a review book and in the process, losing time which could have been used to fortify your grip on the UW material. Because honestly, it's almost impossible to remember every important thing UW tells you even if you spend all your time on it anyway. And as far as content review is concerned, I think it's best to just do a focused review of something that you are getting wrong repeatedly in UW despite review of UW explanations, but I think reviewing a book from cover to cover will be an inefficient use of time. Most (if not all) of your time should be spent learning from questions, mainly UW and NBME clinical self assessments. The reason using questions as the main means of learning in step 2 is important is that step 2 is a very different exam from step 1; in step 2 there is very little focus on direct recall of minutae and instead a vast majority of questions require your ability to distinguish between subtle differences in the clinical presentation of diseases that present very similarly to one another and that's why doing questions and reading the WHOLE explanations for BOTH right and wrong answer choices is the best way to prepare for step 2 CK. hope it helps and best of luck

Thanks you so much @Northerncardinal and @Tunnelvision_1 . I appreciate your advice .
So what I've worked out the plan for me is give a quick read through uworld notes once and then do qbank subject wise and really spend time on understanding the concept behind it and why I went wrong. I'm planning to do a 100 as per day. And then jot down if anything important needed.

As for onlinemeded, I think I'll follow what you said regarding spending time reviewing material only in topics I'm weak on. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate it.!
