Have this ever happened to any of you? I submitted my Pharmcas application to the institution on October 22 but didn't completed the supplemental application until Feb. 8. I called the admission office this morning and they said the committee had reviewed my application on late February and decided to put my application on hold (they haven't make any decision yet). I have a GPA of 3.7 and a PCAT of 83% but have no experience in pharmacy field. I am really nervous and worry now since I don't know why they put my file on hold. I know some people with lower stats and still get in, so I don't know what they are looking for. What do you think of this situation? Is it because it took me so long to completed my application or because of my lack of experience?

I think this following statement holds true for "many" of the applicants at "many" pharmay schools.

Pharmacy schools are not looking for or interested in professional students.

I knew two girls in college:

1. 98% PCAT 4.0 GPA Bachelors in Science - No pharmacy, work or volunteer experience.

2. 70% PCAT 3.2 GPA No Bachelors - Worked as a technician, volunteered somewhere (can't remember off the top of my head)

The latter was accepted to Midwestern University - Glendale last year.

Who would you pick? Someone with a well-traveled background or someone who sat in the library and studied all the time?

I completed my application on February 8.

If I had to choose, it would not be based solely on any of the factors you've given. That's why many schools say that been a tech doesn't necessarily give you an advantage. I am similar to student #1. (not as high though!).. I have never worked in a pharmacy, not that I haven't tried(believe me); and trust me when I say that I did my home work about the field that I am going into. I have gotten interviews to every school i applied, gotten accepted(not to all, some pending). So who would I pick???.. I don't know.. i need more... could be 2, could be 1

I agree with you Itoohaveadream. I got accepted to Pharmacy School already and got interview invitation everywhere I applied. Having experience in the field is a good thing but it is not the key factor. I tried pretty hard to find a job as a Pharmacy Technician but it was not that easy especially when I am not certified.

Right now, I am really confused and worry and eager to know why Midwestern CCP decided to put my application on hold after reviewing it. I am just afraid that they think I am not that interested in their school since it took me so long to complete the supplemental application (I submitted the Pharmcas application to their school on October 22 but didn't complete the whole application package until February 8).

Midwestern-CCP does use rolling admissions and they state very bluntly on their website that it is in the best interest of the applicant to complete everything as early as possible. Any particular reason why you took so long to return the supplemental? By the way, I'm in the same situation (sorta.) My pharmcas application was submitted 10/13/05 but I didn't receive a supplemental until January (pharmcas messed up... long story.) Anyway, I'm sure you being on hold has a lot to do with the fact that your application was completed so late in their admissions cycle. We're in the same boat!

I know it is my fault.....I had so much going on that's why it took me so long to complete the application and also procastination 🙁

I don't really know what else to say besides **** happens and try not to worry about it. Afterall, there's nothing you can do about it now so try not to dwell on it. Did you apply to other schools?

How did you find out your application was on hold? Did you call and speak to someone or are you just assuming because you haven't received a rejection letter?

yeah....I called them and asked. They told me the committee reviewed my application in late February but were not ready to make any decision. They told me just to be patient.

Yep, I applied to other schools and got accepted to one school already. However, I want to go to Chicago or somewhere near home. Hopefully, you and I will hear from them soon.

When did you complete your application?

I mailed my supplemental January 13th and my Interact Now account was updated on January 28th.

and you still haven't heard anything from them? If you don't mind what is your stats (you can PM me if you don't want to post it publicly).

No I haven't heard anything at all. I just assumed my application was on hold or something because I submitted it so late. Maybe I'll call them tomorrow.

I have a 3.24 according to PharmCAS and an 84% composite PCAT.

Submitting late at rolling admissions schools is killer. At this point they might just be waiting for the last few application to come in so they can pick the best applications for the few spots they have left.
