Confusing PAT [Orthographics] Inside

Ok here is what i can eliminate:
B - because the vertical distance is too little according to the end view
D - because the front view says the uppermost block is narrow not wide
A - I thought this was right but supposedly C is
C - i've never seen a rendition like this where 2 pieces cross and totally lack hidden lines, what is up with it?

Aren't hidden lines covered up by solid lines? The piece running up/down on the top projection comes to a flat peak (a little square), and the lines demarcating that square cover up the dotted lines that would be there from the piece running left/right underneath.
