Hi everyone,
I took my DAT last august and had the following scores:
PAT 19
QR 21
RC 17
BIO 18
GC 21
OC 18
TS 19
AA 19

I applied for the last year but I applied really really late so didn't hear anything positive from any of the schools. My cumulative GPA is 3.85 and science GPA is 3.89 (as it showed/calculated in the last year application) Now I am re-applying this year but I am confused if I should retake the DAT or just an early application would do? Please help!

The big question they will ask is "what have you done to strengthen your application". Have you changed anything besides apply 2 months earlier?

When I applied, I only had one month shadowing/dental experience in summer but then after december, I have been shadowing a dentist till present.
I think I can improve my scores if I retake but I am just afraid to think what if I screw up!

Tough call. I believe QR scores have gone down since last summer, but you will get to use a calculator this time, so who knows. Just learn your lesson and get that app in fast.

Yup. That is what I am trying to do, finishing up with my app.
What other areas could be improved? please guide!

I'd retake that DAT, its not bad perse, but with a 3.85 GPA I don't see how you can do any worse than A 19, so theres nowhere to go but up. If you can afford to, take the exam again and send in the better scores.

Depending on where you are applying I'd say just make sure you have improved your resume. Your DAT scores are where they need to be to get in as long as you do apply early on. They will most certainly ask you what you have done in the last year. Also, did you re-write your personal statement to include how you are reapplying and how this relates to your passion for dentistry?

Your DAT scores are fine and your GPA is very good.
However, like the other poster mentioned, you will most likely be asked the following question:
"What did you do to strengthen your application?"
So, if you just chilled since last year, you might wanna start thinking for an explanation!

That's positive! thanks..I will probably retake it and I am preparing for it..but I think I wanna get the application out of my way first!

That is true. they will definitely ask me that question. yes i have changed my personal statement n wrote a little about how it feels to wait a year and also for the resume, I would have more dental experience as i have continued shadowing even though i didn't get in. hopefully things will workout..thanks for your opinion.

Hi do you need any research experience?
I am studying implantology, and if you need some exp. I could let involve in it. But you need to invest your time..
