Congratulations to everyone who matched! Welcome to this great field! Help keep it great by educating yourselves on the issues facing ophthalmology (optometrist scope expansion, Medicare cuts, etc). And don't foreget to donate to you PAC. Again, a well deserved congratulations to all of you!

I share my congratulations too! This is an AWESOME field. Welcome to our community.

I recommend that you become an Academy Member ASAP (it's free for residents!) and benefit from the educational resources available to you. You'll also receive updates and newsletters important about our field.

I thank you both, and all the contributing members of this forum for the knowledge made available these past few years. It's been an invaluable resource as a medical student and applicant.

Dr. Doan, is AAO membership available for those of that JUST matched? I got the feeling that it wouldn't activate until our residency started...

Yes! The academy should be contacting you as they get your info from SF Match. If you don't hear from them, then send them an e-mail. We were discussing this very issue at the Young Ophthalmolgist committee meeting last weekend! We want to get you all involved ASAP! 🙂

Ask for Jill Hartle and tell her I encouraged you to contact her. I work with Jill on numerous projects.

You can actually become a member already. All you need is a certification of acceptance (signature) from your PD on the AAO membership application. See the AAO website for details.
