Connecting activities in primary applications?

I studied abroad in a spanish speaking country and then later did medical work in a latin american country. In my primary application I used my time abroad as one of my most significant activities and mentioned how it ended up aiding me in the medical work i did in the latin american country. Is this alright to do?
