I've read around a little about the back-and-forth over interviewing early in the cycle versus late.. that theres no real data for pros/cons for either.
If given a choice of dates would choosing "middle of the road" ie. around December be the best choice? Or would that risk interviewing at a time when a lot of spots have been already taken.
Interviewing mid-late could have advantage of possibly staying in the memory of committee members. Which may be an advantage because although they write comments about what they thought about u etc. being fresh in their memory cant be bad if they liked you.
Alternatively I've also heard that interviewing too early has several downsides... including not being as prepared, programs would like to wait to see what other applicants will bring, and programs wont have you as fresh in their memory.
Any thoughts? Also was wondering for those who have interviewed in the past.. how many interviews did it take to feel more comfortable doing interviews? I've been told to not interview early at places that I may really want to go to since I'll be rusty at the start of interview season. Thanks for all the help!
