ConseqWWences Game Thread

Allie didn't say the items were bogus, she said they had a 25% chance of working the opposite way they were intended. Opposite to me sounds like it would track you and give the target the info instead.

How long ago did you track her? It seems from multiple sources that there are multiple factions in this game and likely a high number of conversions, so original roles probably aren't going to mean much.
I would think the same thing too but this is an STL game, so opposite may not be what you think it would be. Or there could also be someone/chaos who can change results/items. In this case I would be much more comfortable if someone looked into her tonight versus just lynching her since we don't know if the items are reliable.

I tracked her night 2. It doesn't mean much, but her ability hasn't changed, neither have her behavior or anything else.

I know LoTF's ability too. However, that ability doesn't mean she is villager, a wolf can have that ability, so can chaos.

I'm kind of on the fence here about what to do, but WZ makes a good point, what is opposite of tracking. Not only that, but there would only be a 25% chance that "opposite" would occur at that particular time.

Pretty sure that's what Teep was trying to do with the item in the first place. If we're calling into question this item, we would need to call into question the duster results too.

The results also gave the name of the person that was converted, but Teep decided to withhold that from the main thread just in case there was some sort of tampering.

I agree with what WZ said. Isn't the opposite of tracking....not tracking? I would imagine the item would simply fail to do anything at times. I don't think it would give random results that aren't true...that isn't the opposite of tracking. Like I said before, this is the best thing we have to go off of right now. It's better than randomly voting for people like we have been.

Opposite of what they are intended to do doesn't mean opposite of tracking, it means instead of having someone doing something villagery, they are seen doing something wolfy. Instead of affiliation being village, it is wolf/chaos. That is how I see it.

I was just going to say this was what I was thinking too. It would, in my opinion, be too easy for it to simply track the person who is using it.

But it is opposite of what the item is intended to do. From how I understand it.

That is what I am trying to say. The items give results, but there is a chance that they give false results. STL has done this in other games if I recall.
I know, it just seemed oddly worded if all it meant was the there's a 1 in 4 chance that items give false results. If it had been a 1 in 4 chance that they don't work as intended, or a 1 in 4 chance of failure, or something like that I wouldn't be stuck on it. Opposite has a specific meaning. Don't know if there is a reason to question the exact wording or if we're just getting caught on a detail that doesn't actually matter.

Considering Allie dropped in and didn't necessarily quote verbatim, I think there is some failure of communication. As you have pointed out and I expounded upon, I don't see anything being opposite of the action of tracking unless it is no tracking at all.

Or tracking the tracker instead of the intended target.

But that's kind of the point we're making, it says 25% of doing the opposite, not failing or false results.

I think it is almost silly to ignore the info just because there may be a 25% chance that something wrong happened. There is a 75% chance the info is 100% correct.

Blah, blah, blah, too much percentage.

Yeaaah, I'm not feeling that defense just because of a 25% chance of fail/opposite/whatever it means. If theres ever more elaboration from LoTF herself I'd be willing to listen, but this is pretty damning. Even in the event of landing in that 25% fail zone, I kinda doubt that it would give such specific results as conversion + who was converted (seering items can give false positives/negatives, but would tracking be able to totally fabricate a scenario?), and since when does a 1 in 4 failure chance (3/4 success rate) mean "disregard, confirm later"? This is the best lead we've got at the moment and it kind of seems like a distraction to just handwave it away.

And we should get rid of WZ at some point. She said early on she wouldn't tamper, but then with that day where people were angling for abstinence she made it clear that she wished she could change medicaine and ffm's votes .... Which tells me that what she really means is that she won't use her ability until she wants to, which isn't good enough for me.

Not a high priority, but that role should be removed. Whether she is a wolf or villager is irrelevant - she would be an amazing wolf convert. We can't count on her being blocked all game.

I wasn't handwaving it away, I was simply suggesting we have someone check her out tonight instead of lynching a potential villager with a really useful ability. My tracking results, and her not manipulating my ability to kill me (there is a way that I and another villager could be killed at once and she knew how that could happen and who I tracked every night), makes me still think she's a villager. But, I've been wrong before so I guess we will find out soon if the item was correct or not...

Is that from the night that I used an item to copy my ability and used it on you and got no results? Did you get results on me instead? It would make sense and sketch me out about you less...

I was kind of thinking it was from kata's ability (I think it is kata's ability that was giving people random bits of info)... but I don't know for sure.

It was just worded like this: "An email showed up in your inbox: LOTF may xxxxxxxx (obviously the x's are what you can do)."

Lynch LoTF

I am torn because I do know her ability (supposedly, if that random e-mail was accurate) but that doesn't mean she can't be a wolf with that ability. Or chaos. And I think we need to test the information that she converted someone.

It was a joke. And I lose my ability if converted.

Not that I'm actually relevant at all, but that would be a waste of a lynch.

I either dreamed this or someone else claimed it, but I think WZ said somewhere that her ability to mess with tallies would no longer work if she was converted? Someone other than WZ can look back and confirm since I don't have time to. On the other hand she could've just thrown that in being on the verge of death.

I am not suggesting lynching you today - just saying it should happen at some time soon.

I don't know that you lose your ability if converted; I just know that you've claimed you do.

Perhaps you were joking, but it doesn't read that way and it sounds to me like you are trying to walk back the comment(s?) that you made at the time about changing their votes. Sure seemed like you meant it then.

Ah. Yes. WZ says she loses her ability if converted, so it must be true!!!

I keep forgetting that nobody ever lies in WW.

If I'm a villager then there would be no reason for me to lie about that. If I'm a wolf then conversion is irrelevant.

It's just pretty damn annoying to sit here being blocked all game and still have people wanting to get rid of me for no reason. If you want to lynch me then please, for god's sake, just do it and end my misery. I'm past sick of it at this point. So go ahead and waste that lynch. Better to do it now (or tomorrow, whatever) than wait until later in the game when lynches are more precious. I'm not going to use my ability anyway, so who the hell cares.

This was my exact post:
@Flim Flam Man @MediCane2006 @Devastating

Join in the abstinence!

You know if i could use my ability today i could have made this a lot easier 😛
Joking smiley included

Screw it.
If you are still on me when I get back, I will fill in those that don't get it from this but BBC is our ability thief and I know that from my ability.

DVMD, it was night 4 I used the Hard Drive to look at you. It just told me my screen glitched so no results.

I don't want to jump on the lotf lynch train but I want to get a vote in pending the new info. I'll check back before lynch closes.
