I’m a huge fan of rank choice voting, term limits, 1-topic legislative proposals, etc. All of the things that force accountability and transparency.

RCV disenfranchises more voters than any other voting system. It's a liberal myth that it "force accountability and transparency". The system itself is opaque.

Can you provide the data on this? I think a lot of liberals are against RCV, it's predominantly thought of as a centralist position.

I will preface by first mentioning I am biased as I am a conservative.

Any state that has implemented RCV have nearly universally shifted left, in terms of their politics.

Alaska: Mary Peltola elected over Nick Begich and Sarah Palin (two conservatives)
Maine: Bruce Poliquin (R) won the election however did not have enough votes for a majority. At the end of the day, Jared Golden (D) won the seat.

There's probably more examples but the first is the one I found quickly on Wikipedia and the second is what I can remember from memory.

I also encourage people interested in disenfranchisement wrt RCV to look into the "Ranked Choice Education Association", rankedchoiceedu.org

Well, the shift of politics may represent a more accurate representation of the constituents.

Disenfranchisement can occur under an RCV system, but the claim would be that it is less likely to occur than under FPTP.

There are two examples of plurality red candidate(s) losing to a Democrat candidate due to an unknown method by which RCV allocated votes.

This assumes that reds only want reds, blues only wants blues. What about people that find more agreement with one color in general, but find that the other party's candidate in this particular election fits their preferences better?

Again: The aggregate vote for the "red' was more than the "blue" in both elections, but the "blue" prevailed.

Edit: I understand this is a very small sample and biased (which I did disclose). But to say cast off the fact that there was a winner but for the divided vote is disingenuous at best, I think. If anything, RCV needs to divulge the exact methodology by which candidates are eliminated if it wants to market itself as an alternative to FPTP

So is the answer to this thread that the only people who receive substantial games from conservative discrimination are those who aren't actually conservative but are assumed to be? And that those who inflict that discrimination are punished more severely?

Not enough contributions to draw any notable conclusions. My original post query for residents/students, had too few responses so far.

This is not the same social freedom afforded to minorities even if the legal freedom to open carry is there.

Yeah, I never felt the desire to open carry a gun. Sometimes, when I was going camping or traveling through conservative rural areas, I had a pocketknife. That didn't get much concern; they were fairly common and all I planned to cut with it was stuff like rope for pitching tents and food. Even so, I wouldn't carry a gun openly unless I was deep in the woods and feared being attacked by dangerous wild animals. In town, I'd think that people might be a little more likely to call potentially-unfriendly local cops on me than someone who looked...a little more like the locals. Besides, concealed carry is best if you're trying to protect yourself from predators of the two-legged variety.
