Hi there,

I am currently working full-time, and had some questions about the "smoothest" route I could take towards gaining admission to Dental school.

I have been out of a traditional 4-year college for several years. I majored in biology, and graduated with a 3.4 (3.2 science GPA, I believe). This was mainly because, like many, I messed up pretty bad my first year. My last three years displayed GPAs of 3.7 and up.

So anyways, a year out of college, I started an online masters in healthcare administration. Nothing special. I ended the masters with a 3.8, and am now working a fairly decent job. But, I always feel in the back of my mind that I should be doing some a little more challenging.

I have a life-learner attitude -- I taught myself calc 2, calc 3, and differential equations after leaving college. I also did self-refreshers on physics, chemistry, and biology. After reading one subject, I go back to the public library or to amazon to check out/purchase a book on a new academic subject and do my best to learn it. I took the MCAT and GRE for fun about a year ago, and did pretty well.

My main question is this: If, somehow, I scored "well" on the DAT and was able to secure letters of evaluation from a dentist or two and a supervisor, would it be enough to gain admission? Basically, I am wondering if I will require more recent science coursework. I have already completed all the pre-dental coursework requirements in the past, with my biology degree.

So, overall, I am looking for recommendations on how to go about effectively applying to dental school as a working professional who is confident in their ability to score well on standardized tests. Thanks!
