The new rates have come out and I read that the rates are lower if you are in deferment versus if you are in repayment.
Can you consolidate your loans while in deferment? Is being in economic/unemployment deferment equivalent to being in deferment because you are in grad school?
I ask because I have been out of work for a while and will be going to graduate school in the fall. I haven't applied for unemployment deferment even though I am eligible. I figured I will be in deferment anyway when I go to graduate school....but I heard that you cannot consolidate while in school....I'm lost??
