I’m in talks with a stim company about a consultant gig. I’m sure many of you on this forum also have done similar things, was just curious what’s the normal rate I could expect? I don’t want to short change myself and negotiate a bad deal. Thanks!

They do it by protocol on your fair market value within a certain range. You can always ask for more but they will tell you the general counsel sets a specific limit. It’s based on your specialty and years of experience. Neurosurgeons get more than pain guys, etc.

$375 per hour is what I was quoted if that helps. This was just a few months ago.

I do telephone consulting. $350/hr. In person, I would want that rate for every hour I am away from home including sleeping in the hotel, flying, etc.

Consulting for stim company too? How do we get this kind of gig? Downsides?

I signed up for GLG consutants.
No downsides, just not an infinite supply of gigs.

I’m anesthesia and ACGME pain fellowship trained. Coming up on 2 years out of fellowship now. I do a lot of SCS and have been offered to come speak for 3 of the companies so far, have never felt like I should and have always said thanks for asking but not interested right now. This last time I said I would consider it so they sent me a contract to review.

They just ask your opinion on current SCS devices and “what if a new device had this? Would you use the new device?”
