Is Hydrocortisyl Cream 1% good to treat contact dermatitis around an ear lobe suspected cause by Nickel allergies, or an antihistamine cream is more effective?

Go with the hydrocortisone.

mostly, because hydrocortisone treats the rash bettter; while anti histamine is better for the itch.

I don't find topical antihistamines to be particularly effective except for the people who sell them and the people who make them.

If you have a large area of the body or the itching is extreme you can add an oral antihistamine and the topical oatmeal bath.

I happen to have hives at the moment, and at first I used topical benadryl cream (the generic Walgreens kind), and it worked for a small area of hives. However, when I ran out, I went to get more at walmart, and that stuff didn't work. I am now on my second round of prednisone therapy.

That's kinda what I thought, but the OP doesn't state that it's for personal use.

And I was just giving my opinion.

At first I thought it was about the research project as one of the possibilities was ear infections. But you're probably right contact dermatitis due to nickel allergy probably is seeking medical advice.
