Hey guys,

I dont know if any of you are in the same boat as me...BUT...

We had a HUGE distraction during our VR section (a high school band started practicing next door!) and it DEFINITELY showed on my score

my other two sections are great and I had already emailed the AAMC after it happened, but what do I do now?

has ANYONE ever been in this situation, when you have these testing problems what are you supposed to do????

i'd really appreciate any insight thanks

In all honesty, I dont think they give a ****. Did you receive a response after your email? Whatd it say?

If when taking the exam I felt that my score would suffer with the distraction, I would have DEFINITELY voided my scores. I feel for you if you are in the application process right now, but I would have sucked it up, hit void, put myself through many more months of preparation, and taken it again the next time around. I know that is harsh and I wouldn't wish those circumstances on anyone, but I doubt you are going to get anywhere with your appeal this late in the game, AFTER scores have been released. They will just see it as a whining pre-med. All I can say is that sucks. Go out, get drunk!!! Apply, see what happens.

Kaplan told me that if something happened, E-mail AAMC and print out their response and attach it to ur app. The person reading it will hopefully put into consideration what happened and probably bring it up in an interview.

I agree that AAMC prolly won't care to much about your distraction (especially since you're just bringing it up now). I mean, think about those poor people in FL who had their tests delayed and delayed some more -- and they aren't getting any extra treatment. While writing AAMC may give you a piece of mind, why don't you wait until your interviews and then bring up the issue there. If the person you're interviewing with personally goes to the adcom and says "look, this kid is really smart and awesome, but he messed a bit on the MCAT because of a valid distraction," it will be a lot more convincing than a little footnote on your AMCAS application.
