Hello! I'm a non-traditional student taking a gap year right now. I finished undergrad with a less than stellar GPA and went back to get my masters degree. Finished the masters with a 3.95 bringing my overall up to 3.0 science/overall. I applied last year and didn't get so I am taking a gap year working in research. I wasn't really surprised that I didn't get in however I was having a hard time getting in contact with my state school (1st choice) after I was rejected to see what I could improve. I called many times but by the time I did hear back from them they said they put me on a list for a one on one meeting and that they would call me when that time came. Alas, I did not receive a call so I just continued to try to improve my app and get stuff ready for this round (retook the DAT, finished up my masters classes strong, and got more shadowing). What I'm wondering is would it be inappropriate to call the school and ask if they would recommend that I continue taking classes/what classes they would like to see me take? I already submitted my application and materials in June and I don't know if they are okay with me calling for advice since I am applying for this cycle. Also I'm working full time while I am applying and I don't plan on taking out any more loans so I would like to know what classes I can expect to pay for out of pocket if that is really what they want to see from me. I did alright on my DAT re-take (21AA/22TS/20PAT) so I'm not sure if they would want to see me re-take a bunch of pre-reqs or not since I did alright on the science part. Anyway thanks for the help!

If you already applied, don't call them asking for advice because you already applied so you've chosen what you're going to do. At this point all you can do is wait and hope for the best. If you don't get in this cycle, then yes you can contact them and ask for further advice.
