Contacting post bac programs before applying

I am a college junior and plan on applying to post back in the fall. I have good GPA (3.93) and good GRE (166 Verbal, 161 Math), A's in Statistics and Calculus, plenty of volunteering and shadowing, but am at a small less recognized liberal arts school and I am not sure how much that will hurt my application. How receptive are programs to discussing the viability of candidate before applying and when would be the best time to contact them?

Sorry, should have said, I still need all the basic science pre-reqs, and would prefer to do a cohort style post back like Gaucher if possible.

I contacted programs before I applied to them and they were pretty receptive. However I was calling because I wasn't sure if I even could apply because I had take a few science courses. I'm not sure how helpful they will be to you in terms of your specific question because I don't think any school would ever admit out loud that they discriminate based undergrad reputation, though honestly I think it does have an effect. However, your stats are really good, so you definitely shouldn't be discouraged in general and calling and expressing interest is never going to hurt you. I would wait to call until later in the spring though as most postbacs are very busy right now because they are at the end of their admissions cycles and you aren't applying for this current round anyway.


TLDR: No harm in calling, they might not be able to answer your question. Wait until the current admission cycle is over to call.
