contacting schools that screen for secondaries

I've seen some advice online to contact schools that screen for secondaries because my undergraduate sGPA is below some cutoffs, but my graduate SMP GPA is well above the cutoff. How would one actually go about contacting these schools? Is it a call or email to admissions where I plead my case for them to take a look? Just wondering if anyone has any insight. Thank you!
