I am sure people have pondered about this question before, but for those who wear glasses, would you go to an interview with your contacts to look more sharp and pretty, or would you wear your glasses to look more studious and hardworking?

I say you should go in whatever you feel most comfortable in. If contacts make your eyes hurt then don't wear them. If glasses make you feel self-conscious than maybe contacts are better.

It depends on the person I think.

I would go with whatever you're used to doing for a typical day on the wards. No need to try anything new for interviews, imho.

People put way too much emphasis on what they think they should look like at interviews. I would just say that a very schlumpy overweight applicant with graying unstyled hair and a crappy suit matched during my cycle at a very prestigious program that I would have killed to get into. And I'm not exaggerating about her looks.

I matched, and I dress way boring. And I'm chunky. My 10-year old glasses were crooked.

Interviewing in derm is like interviewing anywhere else. Look normal. Don't have boogers hanging out. Tuck in the waistband of your underwear.

Graying = more years alive = more pubs/research/volunteer activities/ect

overweight = over half of the u.s population

crappy suit = as long as its professional, who cares how much it costs?

schlumpy = that's just mean 👎

My point simply is that it does not matter how you look. Don't over-read.

Are you implying that those who wear glasses can't look sharp and pretty? 😛

How about: studious and hardworking, with glasses that elevate the look to sharper and prettier?
😳

Glasses rock. Pick the right pair, and you will look like a million bucks.
