Greetings All,
What are the some of the problems facing physicians in American society at present? (I've been informed about declining physician autonomy, healthcare issues, and high malpractice insurance rates). From my interactions with physicians so far, the responses have been quite interesting. Can anyone elaborate on these issues?

Well, regarding the malpractice issue that is clearly plaguing America?s Physicians, M.D. and D.O. alike, vascular surgeons in South Florida have had enough and are going without it!!! Whoa

I'm very interested in learning more about all of your arguments..but I have one question: What do Sweden and Canada do to aid those who cannot afford health insurance (or afford to be medically treated)?

Canada has universal coverage of all citizens, regardless of whether one can pay for it or not. It's funding of medical costs is through the federal gov. transfering moneys to the provinces, thus it is publically funded. however, delivery is through private institutions, such as hospitals and private clinics. We save a lot of cost on administration because of the direct transfer of money. The states has one of the most costly medical systems in the world, and yet is lowly ranked on the effectiveness of the medical system among western countries. I think Cuba even beat the US on which countries had the most bang for the buck.
