Howdy all. Here is my situation. I am on psychiatry at a place with a psychotic rotation secretary who is constantly up my crotch paging me, asking where I am, trying to give me extra stuff to do, etc even though I am always where I should be. Today I left slightly early (3:45pm) and sure as shyte I get paged asking where I went, blah blah blah. We exchanged pleasant thoughts over the phone 😉 She is taking the liberty of contacting my school's rotation coordinator for further discussion. As I see it, my grade for what should be the easiest rotation is shot, but I couldn't stand letting this idiot try to scold me unnecessarily. What are the normal (if any) and/or crafty ways to go about contesting a grade, and for those who have tried it, what was the outcome? Thanks

If a rotation secretary has that much control over your grade, the system at your school for that clerkship is severely flawed. You should be evalulated only by clinicians. While professionalism might be a part of the eval, it should be based on how the clinicians' observations, not a secretary's. Make sure you know what the grading guidelines are and take it up with the clerkship director.

the sad thing is the attendings who have the final say will usually listen to the secretary.
