Hey y'all. As I collect shadowing hours, I'm wondering if it matters at all if the hours are scattered across several different doctors/specialties? I do not have personal connections with doctors so I have mostly been shadowing at random clinics within driving distance for 4-8 hours each.

This. You only need about 50 hours total shadowing. Make sure you have some shadowing with a Primary a Care Physician.

I did shadow a rural PCP for 8 hours, I actually liked it quite a bit and am considering the field now!

Yes, 50 hours of shadowing is the sweet spot. Too much more and adcoms ask why you stood around watching when you might have been helping as a volunteer or even an employee. I'm glad to hear that shadowing in rural primary care opened your eyes and has you considering that field!
