I'm a co-editor of a potential book. We submitted a prospectus and just got a draft contract from one of the "big four" academic publishers. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look for or watch out for in the contract?

Thanks!

in my limited experience for a textbook : you can get an engagement fee and payment for reaching chapter goals. The big catch is that this is paid on a draw system against royalties.

Also, that group in the Midwest will absolutely fly you out and take you to a nice meal.

Source: I expressed interest in contributing for a friends textbook just to get a free trip and then had to sit through a boring ass business meeting.
