Contract to do VA C/P exams

Ah, fine. Basically, an independent C&P examiner saw my patient and asked me to hospitalize the patient for them. I refused on the advice of my program supervisor.

Why would you need to hospitalize the patient for them? Did they want the patient to go to a psych unit or day program? If it was an emergency and they were suicidal/homicidal and an imminent risk, 911 and transfer from a community ER seems more appropriate. If they are already in treatment and it is not an emergency, what's the problem?

Psych unit, yeah.

If they were so concerned, why didn't they hospitalize the patient themselves?

I can see a non-va provider requesting the veteran receive VA treatment. I can also see a primarily outpatient provider with no background in PTSD thinking that many people walking around need to be hospitalized. People don't think about acute vs chronic. It is acute to the provider because the person is new to them.
