My Dean's letter has contradicting statements within my ob/gyn rotation. What is the program director going to think? Is this going to look bad?

"...Needs to improve knowledge base..."

"...superior knowledge... "

I don't think that's contradicting. Just because you have "superior knowledge" doesn't mean you don't need to keep improving your knowledge base. I think probably 96% of people on here have "Needs to read more" at some point in one of their evaluations. It just means you're a med student like everyone else.

"needs to improve knowledge base" = did not confidently/accurately answer pimp questions to satisfaction of evaluator. This is unavoidable in some circumstances and is why 3rd year is ridiculous, especially since clinical grades count far more than didactics.

sorry you got nailed with this comment. if it makes you feel any better, my MSPE has worse.

plus, let's be honest, ob/gyn blows goats. they're know for crap reviews. it's practically expected.

The clerkship comments section in Dean's letters are a compilation of attending / resident comments. I'm sure the committee will keep this in mind when they read your MSPE.

If you do have any negative comments in your MSPE, I would suggest going to the clerkship director to get the comments removed or changed. It's completely possible, but bring an argument for yourself before you meet with the clerkship director.
