the answer for the reagent is (CH3)2CuLi

can someone explain this? Isn't it suppose to be CH3Li?

If I remember from OCHEM the answer has something to do with Cu being less reactive than Li therefore Cu will attack the DB instead of the carbonyl which is what you would get if Li was the reagent. I'll look it up later if you need a more detailed explanation.

good ochem questions please post in discussion thread
