Hello All,

I am an international PhD student entering my 5th year of grad school. Does anyone here know if there are provisions for adding an MD track to my current PhD degree? Thanks a lot.

No. While you are finishing your PhD, take the MCAT and apply to medical school. It is the only way.

This late in the game, it is impossible. I know one girl who managed to do it at UPenn, but it was apparently VERY hard, and I believe she started the push relatively early in her PhD.

Agree.

OP, just crank through your PhD at this point and plan on applying to regular MD programs after completing (or in the last year before completing) your PhD. Be aware that many MD programs will not matriculate you until your PhD is complete, so make sure your timetable for finishing grad school is realistic before you go to all the time and effort of applying to med school. Also, if your grad school is affiliated with a med school, it's a good idea to contact the admissions office and ask for a pre-app meeting for advice on how to strengthen your app. I did this before I applied to med school (I am a PhD-to-MD), and it was very helpful.

Best of luck. 🙂
