Cornell acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just called Cornell a few minutes ago, told me that they are sending out invites well into March and that just this week they sent out a bunch of rejections via snail mail. At once I asked 'was I one of them? and the lady laughed and said no. So I am still in the game! whoohoo!

Why are they so inconsistent? First they said by the end of this week, then they said by the end of next week, and now it's March?

I don't know who you talked to, but I called them again to get that story, but they said the same thing they said previously. She said very clearly we would ALL know very soon, and it would be posted online. The only thing they had in march was orientation for accepted people. She thought I was crazy for asking her all these random questions!

Well, next time one of you calls could you do me a favor and put in a good word for me? 😉

Airshad, I noticed you post alot in the pre-med forum..so did you happen to call the med school instead of the vet school?

cornell vet doesn't send rejections via snail mail, they just post the letter online. also, they send out all of their decisions well before march, because accpeted students weekends are throughout late feb-march. good try there though.

my friend just called and now they are saying the middle of next week

Wait, you said they link you from the application tracking page to the rejection letter? When is that link supposed to go up? And will it go up for the alts?

My guess, and this is only a guess, they won't start posting rejections until after they've notified all the acceptances. Whenever that is.

Email from Cornell sent this morning:

"Thank you for applying to the College of Veterinary Medicine at
Cornell University. The Admissions Committee has made their
decisions regarding the Class of 2010. We post our decisions on-line
as we understand that virtually all applicants are anxious to receive
our decision in a timely manner."

It included a link to a rejection letter...

tsuki - i'm so sorry! and i'm sorry to ask you this, but was the link to your application document tracking page or another? have you applied elsewhere - have other prospects?

There's a link to the letter on your status page, but you need a special pin to view it. Cornell gave me the pin in the email that they sent me. My last name starts with A so perhaps they are doing this alphabetically.

I do have interviews at 3 other schools so far (hopefully more to come), so I'm not too upset. However, it would have been nice to stay in NY - my family's here and my bf goes to school in Syracuse. Congrats to those that did get in 👍

Wait, Class of 2010? Is that a mistype?

Actually it is. I copied that passage directly from the email they sent me. Later this morning I received an email from Cornell adcom acknowledging that they had made a typo. It is supposed to be the "Class of 2011".

Funny, CSU did a similar thing in their rejection letter also... "Application file review apointments are scheduled through June 30, 2006 and personal file review appointments are limited to one per applicant." (Same bolding and everything- you would think it would be noticed!)

I am trying to find it funny that even the people in high positions (i.e. the dean) would sign and send out letters not proof-read (we are only human after all), but I still find it a little disrespectful, considering we spend months looking for the slightest mistake in our applications.

CSU started sending out rejection letters? In-state or out-of-state?

In-state, don't worry yet- when I was out of state (2004) it didn't come until early Feb.

Okay, this is just painful at this point. What's going on?

Has anyone out-of-state heard from Cornell? Either one way or the other?

not i - though i applied for the dvm/phd program and am starting to think i am still in some committee...

i'm out of state, and i haven't heard either.

my phone has died, too, so maybe thats why. i sent an email requesting they either call the home phone, or my roommate's cell because mine is completely defunct, but i still haven't heard anything.

Not 100% on this but I'm pretty sure Tiddlywinks is out of state and she was the first one to say that she was accepted.

Haven't gotten a phone call or an email.....I feel like I'm going to explode! I haven't turned my computer off in days, and have even started checking my email at work! :scared:

i'm right there with you! haven't heard anything and going crazy...

I'm an out-of-stater and I just spoke with Cornell about if they were still updating tracking pages. She said that actually the admissions decisions had been made and I would know by the end of the week- by email, by phone, by pony express I don't know. Me thinks this leans toward email or phone. Bad or good.

Hi all,

I have just received my decision from Cornell via email. The email contained a PIN code and a link to a page where upon entering the PIN, a PDF was sent with your admissions decision. Unfortunately, I was not offered one of the 86 seats (out of 880 applications considered), but maybe some of you will be! I was an out-of-state applicant. Good luck to all!

ughhh - now i'm scared to death every time i have an email it is from cornell with the inevitable rejection... this waiting is horrible!!!

I sent in my dean's certification, and they got it today. My page was promptly updated with that but not their decision! hehe, I just wanna know...

I sent in my dean's certification

ok - now i'm really freaking out... was the dean's cert required? maybe i've heard nothing b/c my app's not complete??

No, the sheet says Jan 5, but that was for last year. I called and asked. She said that if you are accepted they will ask you to send it in. Don't worry about it yet. I just wanted to get it out of the way and off of my "to do" list (if I get accepted).

Hey, guys -- I checked my tracking page about an hour ago, and saw that in place of the "your application is currently in the review process..." message was a statement that my decision letter was available, with a box to input my PIN. I already knew what that meant, thanks to this board, but I checked my e-mail anyway, saw the message with the PIN, and went back to my tracking page to get my rejection letter. <sniffle>.

🙁

Oh, well. One down, 7 to go! 🙂

Oh, yeah -- I'm out of state.

mine finally came too - another one out... oh well, my husband was really against moving back east; at least one war at home avoided!

Yeah me too. So one down...

Sure feeling the love as out-of-staters, aren't we...

Hey guys - sorry about the bad news..I am totally freaked out - nothing has changed on my status page, and still no call or email...just wondering, what are the first letters of your last names??

just got mine! 👎 congrats to you guys who got in!

i have not heard anything yet...my last name starts with MC.

well, it says online decision letter is available. no email for my PIN though. can't i just get this over with?!? fudge. 🙁

fej today with email/link

reject. email/link. out of state

Hey folks,

Last year, my status page changed, just like Emio's, but I never got the notification e-mail. I saw this at 4:45PM on a Friday. I called the vet school and they said I didn't need a PIN, obviously they didn't know what they were talking about. If someone has this happen, PM me and I will tell you how to get it. There's a trick. I know how agonizing the wait is, and luckily I know someone who knew how to find it anyway, WITHOUT putting in every possible combination!

After 3 years of applying to Cornell (this was the first year I stopped), I will say that at this point I don't think any acceptances are going out. Not sure about waitlist, I never got on, but I know how important closure is either way. So let me know!

Waitlisted by snail mail, no change on my status page

I'm out-of-state and was also just wait-listed by snail mail. Does anyone have previous experience with the Cornell wait list? Any idea about how many from the wait list may get in?

Congrats to all with acceptances!!

Add me to the list of alternates... are you other alts going to go to the information sessions? I'm thinking about the one on 2/2, maybe we could unite in all our alternate glory.

I am also an alternate-- I posted a new thread earlier today and then found this listing.
I am going but I'm going to the one on the 9 and 10th. I'm trying to miss as few quizzes/tests as possible despite interviews!
